Who you are dealing with
Ciakko is made and sold by Ciakko, Rimini, Italy ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@ciakko.com. By downloading, installing or buying Ciakko you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the software.
What Ciakko is
A desktop application for Windows 10 and 11 that records your screen, webcam and audio and edits the result on your computer. It comes with an account (an email address and a sign-in code) used to activate the trial and the license, a website, and a sign-in service. Recording, editing, captions and export run on your PC. Your recordings are never uploaded to us.
The trial
You may use the complete product free of charge for 14 days from the first activation, on the computers covered by the license limit below, without a payment card and without a watermark on your exports. When the trial ends, recording and editing keep working and exporting stops until you buy a license. One trial per person.
The license you buy
When you pay, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Ciakko on up to 3 computers that you own or control, for personal or business use, including for videos you sell or publish. "Perpetual" means what it says: the version you have keeps working for as long as you keep it, whether or not you ever pay us again.
The license includes every update we release during the 12 months after your purchase. After that period you keep the last version you received. Extending updates for another period is optional and is offered from inside the app at the price shown there. We never charge you automatically.
You may move the license between computers by deactivating one from the app. If a computer is lost or dies, write to us and we free the seat.
Price, payment and taxes
The price is the one shown on the pricing page and confirmed at checkout, in US dollars. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card number. Taxes are calculated and shown at checkout based on your country. The launch price, when active, is available until the date shown on the site and replaces the full price for anyone who buys before then.
Refunds and withdrawal
The trial exists so you can test everything before paying. Because of that, and because the license is delivered immediately at purchase, you agree that the license is activated right away and that the fourteen-day right of withdrawal for digital content is lost at that moment, as European consumer law allows for digital content delivered with your consent.
We still refund. If Ciakko does not work on your computer and we cannot fix it with you, write to us within fourteen days of the purchase and we refund the full price. We may ask for the app's report (one click inside the app) to understand what went wrong. Refunds are made through the original payment method.
What you may not do
- Share, resell, rent or sublicense the license, or use one license for more computers than it covers.
- Remove, bypass or tamper with the license check or the activation, or help someone else do it.
- Decompile or reverse engineer the software beyond what the law expressly allows.
- Use Ciakko to record people who have not agreed to be recorded where the law requires their consent.
We may cancel a license used in breach of these terms. We will write to you first, unless the breach is obviously deliberate.
Your recordings are yours
Everything you record, edit and export with Ciakko belongs to you. We claim no right over it, we do not receive it, and we do not watermark it. What you record and where you publish it is your responsibility, including the rights of the people and the content on screen.
Our software is ours
Ciakko, its code, design, name and logo belong to Ciakko. The license gives you the right to use the software, not ownership of it. Third-party components inside the app are used under their own licenses, listed in the app.
Updates and changes to the product
We improve the app over time and some features change or go away. We do not remove a feature you paid for without an equivalent way to do the same thing. Updates are checked from the app; you can decline any update and keep the version you have.
What we promise, and what we do not
We promise that Ciakko does what this website says it does, on the Windows versions and the hardware listed on the download page, and that we will answer support requests. Beyond that, the software is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will fit a purpose we have not described, that it will never fail, or that it will work on hardware we have not listed. Where the law lets us, our liability is limited to the price you paid. Nothing here limits the rights a consumer has by law.
Accounts and the sign-in service
The account exists to activate the trial and the license and to reach you about your purchase. Keep the email address you used current. If you believe someone else is using your account, write to us and we will lock it while we sort it out. You can ask us to delete the account at any time; that ends the license attached to it.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by Italian law. Any dispute goes to the courts of Rimini, Italy. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim there. The European online dispute resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms we update the date at the top of this page. A change never takes away a license you already bought or the updates period that came with it. For a change that matters to you, we write to the email address on your account.
