Demo video for your Lovable app: record it in ten minutes, no editing

You described the app, Lovable built it, you fixed the two screens it got wrong and hit publish. Now the landing page needs a video, the launch post needs a vertical clip, and the README needs a loop. This is the plan that fits the way you just worked: say what you want, let the tool do the mechanics, keep what is good.

What you are making

  • One flow, sixty seconds. From the user's first click to the result they came for.
  • Three outputs from one recording. Wide for the landing page, vertical for the launch post, a short loop for the README.
  • Real screens only. If it is in the video, it is in the app.

Record the published app, not the editor

Open the published URL in a clean browser window: extra tabs closed, bookmarks bar hidden, page zoom at 110 or 125 percent so text reads before any zoom, notifications off. Use real-looking data, not "test test". If Lovable gave you a loading state that takes a few seconds, leave it: the recorder will find that stretch and speed it up.

Pick the flow, not the app

Nobody wants the tour. Pick the one thing someone would sign up for: "paste the link, get the summary", "upload the file, see the chart", "type the prompt, get the plan". Start where the user starts, end where the value is, stop. If the app does three things, that is three short videos.

Record it, talking or silent

Talking works for the landing page: a voice saying "so you paste it here" while the cursor does it is what makes people believe the product works. One take, mistakes included, under three minutes. Click on purpose, because the zooms land on clicks. When you mess up, say "again" and redo that bit.

Silent works too, and it is the option most people pick the first time. Record without a word, then in the editor type the script line by line, each line pinned where it should start. A natural voice reads it over the video, the captions follow word by word, and the other audio ducks while it speaks. Change one sentence, regenerate one sentence. No retakes, and nobody has to hear your accent at 2 am.

Review what the tool did, fix two things

Stop recording and the editor opens with the zooms already on the timeline. Play it once. Usually two things need a hand: a zoom that framed the wrong control, and a zoom on a click that did not matter. Drag one, delete the other. Cut the "again" moments. Pick a background that matches the landing page, round the corners. If you spoke, read the captions and click the word it got wrong.

Ten minutes the first time, five the second. Half an hour in means you are polishing, and the launch needs the video, not the polish.

Export three things

Landing page: wide, 1080p, with sound. Muted autoplay in the hero, play button for sound.

Launch post, Product Hunt, Shorts: vertical from the same project. The camera keeps the action centered, so the desktop app becomes a phone video without losing half the screen.

README: the same clip, twenty seconds, embedded at the top.

What not to do

Do not ask a video generator for it. It will make a lovely clip of an app that is not yours, and the first user will notice. The reasons are on the fake screens page. Do not hire a motion designer for the launch either: hundreds of dollars a minute and weeks of waiting for a video that shows less of the product than the one you can record tonight. And do not use the Lovable preview pane: the editor chrome ends up in the video.

The bill

Ciakko is $89, once, and the trial is the full product for 14 days with no card and no watermark. That is enough to ship the launch video and decide later. It runs on Windows 10 and 11; if you are on a Mac, the Screen Studio alternatives page lists the options there.

Questions from the launch threads

Can I record the Lovable preview, or do I need the published app?

Record the published app, in a normal browser window. The preview inside Lovable has the editor chrome around it, and the demo should show what your users will see.

I do not want my voice on the video. What then?

Record in silence and type the script afterwards. Ciakko reads it with a natural voice over the video and writes the captions word by word from it. No microphone, no retakes; change one sentence and regenerate only that one.

Is a screen recording enough for a launch?

A recording with the dead time cut, zooms on the clicks, a readable cursor and captions is what a product video looks like in 2026. The motion-graphics version is a different product for a different budget, and launches do not need it.

How do I get the vertical version for the launch post?

Record once in 16:9, then export 9:16 from the same project. The camera keeps the action in frame, so a desktop app becomes a phone video without losing the important half of the screen.

Can an AI video generator make it instead?

Not for a real app. Generators invent interfaces, and a button in the video that does not exist in the product is the first thing your first users notice. Record the real thing, let the recorder do the editing.

Ship it

The app took an afternoon. The demo takes ten minutes.
